Solving a PS5 Clearance and Cable Management Issue with a Sonos Arc Ultra Riser Stand

Solving a PS5 Clearance and Cable Management Issue with a Sonos Arc Ultra Riser Stand

The problem

Jon had recently upgraded his home entertainment setup with a Sonos Arc Ultra and a PlayStation 5, but quickly ran into a familiar issue many modern TV units create.

With the soundbar placed directly on the media console, there simply wasn’t enough vertical clearance underneath. The PS5 sat too close to the soundbar, restricting airflow and making the overall setup feel cramped. On top of that, power, Ethernet and HDMI cables were difficult to route cleanly, leaving visible wiring at the back of the unit.

Like many customers, Jon didn’t want to wall-mount the soundbar or replace his TV furniture. He was looking for a clean, stable, low-profile way to raise the soundbar just enough to solve the problem without introducing new compromises.

The solution

A pair of Sonos Arc Ultra riser stands was used to lift the soundbar to a controlled height, creating the space needed beneath while keeping the soundbar centred and visually balanced on the unit.

Raising the soundbar achieved several things at once:

  • Provided clearance for the PS5, improving airflow and access

  • Created room for tidy rear cable routing, reducing visible clutter

  • Prevented the soundbar from overlapping the TV screen or bezel

  • Slightly improved sound projection by lifting the drivers off the surface

Although Jon opted for a specific configuration to suit his setup, the underlying issues are exactly the same ones the standard Sonos Arc Ultra riser options are designed to solve — clearance, airflow, cable management, and correct placement.

The result

The final setup was clean, stable, and practical, with the soundbar elevated just enough to allow everything beneath it to function properly without drawing attention to the risers themselves.

Jon also highlighted the experience of ordering and support, particularly the clarity of communication and the speed from order to delivery — especially notable given this was a UK-to-US shipment completed in around eight days from order to arrival.

“Excellent customer service. Went back and forth a few times on dimensions and the seller was very patient. Item quality is excellent… The width lets me run the power, Ethernet and HDMI cables down the back so they are less visible. I would highly recommend this seller.”

Why this setup works for many Sonos Arc Ultra owners

While every living-room layout is slightly different, this case study reflects a set of problems we see repeatedly with Sonos Arc and Arc Ultra installations:

  • Consoles such as PS5 or Xbox Series X placed under the soundbar

  • Limited vertical clearance on modern TV units

  • Soundbars blocking TV IR sensors or the bottom of the screen

  • Poor airflow when soundbars sit flat on furniture

  • Visible cabling at the rear of the unit

A properly sized riser stand solves these issues without wall mounting, drilling, or replacing furniture, making it one of the simplest and most reversible upgrades you can make to a soundbar setup.
